Day 2 Recap AKA This Isn't So Easy After All....

Well, after just two of our loyal compatriots had to re-buy after Day 1 things got MUCH more interesting during Day 2...TWENTY-ONE of you picked a loser on Day 2! If I wasn't among your ranks I would have much harsher words...

The day started pretty formfully with Cincinnati, Florida, and Florida St. moving a lot of people to Day 3 unscathed. And then all hell broke loose....

It all started with popular Final 4 pick Missouri losing to Norfolk State in one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history. Let's put this loss into perspective - Missouri was a 20 point favorite. The ONLY bigger favorite in the entire first round was Kentucky. Kentucky lost just twice all year and was playing a team that was awful and went 16-18, UK was a 25 point favorite. And, again, Missouri was favored by 20. For them to lose this game was absolutely monumental. Somewhat surprisingly, it only took down three victims as many people were trying to save Missouri for later rounds....but, the fun was just beginning.

The two major suicide pool killers:

Michigan and Duke

Seven people chose the Wolverines and another eight took Duke.

Michigan's popularity in the pool was somewhat surprising. But, the Big Ten loyalists came out in force and overlooked the lowly Bobcats from Ohio. Ohio pretty much controlled the game from start to finish much to the chagrin of the Wolverine backers...and probably to the chagrin of Ray Jackson (the fat one from the Fab Five).

Duke knocked out eight participants with their loss to Lehigh...which is French for, "The High." For the seventh time in eight years the Dukies go home before the Elite 8.

In other news, Butch Fisher became the first participant sent home after losing in consecutive days. Yes, he's already lost....even his re-buy.

The Temple v USF match-up pitted Kevin Egan vs Derek Wild. Derek and the USF Bulls showed everyone why it is not a good move to pick against the Big East as USF made three first half FGs but found a way to keep it close before blowing Temple away in the second half. Derek Wild advances with the incredibly ballsy 12 seed selection.

And, in other news some dumbass, i.e. me (David Crone), picked St. Mary's and watched them come back from a 12 point deficit only to airball a contested 25 footer with 12 seconds left while losing by one....seriously St. Mary's....that was your play call?

Please keep in mind that Re-Buys are available (unless your name is Butch Fisher, you're done dude). Congrats to the 28 players that have selected winners for two straight days....and you thought this was gonna be easy......
